Mark Daul Notice: because this page contains many pictures it will load slow on dial-up connections. Sorry. Our First Outdoorsman Raffle and Wild Game Fest was held on May 13 2006 at the 3 F Club on Swann Road in Lewiston NY. It was a first attempt by the Niagara River Anglers Association and under the Chairmanship and guidance of Vice-President Michael Henderson. When Henderson first got this idea for a fund raiser for our Association, there were pockets of doubt and resistance but Henderson persisted because he wanted to raise enough money for another function at Hyde Park Lake geared towards inner city children. The Hyde Park Lake project started with Henderson contacting the right people and got the Lake stocked in cooperation with the New York State DEC with for the event with nearly 2,000 German Brown Trout. Probably most inner city children never battled a fighting brown trout in their lives and some never will again, but at least some can experience a chance of a lifetime. The Hyde Park Lake festivities is is on June 3rd. and is billed as a "Fish and Wildlife Festival & Youth Fishing Contest. The Festival will have fish exhibits, nature displays, USFWS displays and other things that will interest the whole family. The Festival runs from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm and the fishing for children starts at 8:30 am to 11:30 am. Registration is at 8:00 am sharp. The Festival is in cooperation of U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Niagara River Anglers Association, Gander Mountain Stores, City of Niagara Falls Parks Department and Friends of the Lower Great Lakes. Thank You Michael Henderson for taking the load on your shoulders and for recruiting the finest of volunteers for both of these events. Photos by Mark Daul, News & Views Editor and Web Administrator
