QUESTION APPEARED ON OUR OUTDOORS FORUM:

Thanks Walter. Great Questions!

Yes, you can sign up at the dock before you go out.>>>It is ONE fish per person you are allowed to enter. >>>Yes, three or more can fish from the same boat and like you said, all have to be entered in contest.>>>Yes, weigh station closes at 2:00 and as long as you are in line at 2:00 you will be eligible to weight your fish. >>>One other thing. The awards party is at the Lewiston Volunteer Fire Hall at 145 North 6th. Street in the Village. [Across from St. Peters Church]

The awards DO NOT start until 3:00 so that will give you time to get your boat home to park it. Everyone will be told this at the boat launch so everyone knows. >>>>>Vehicles with trailers will be a parking problem. We would like to keep parking space open for the people that come in from distant places so they can park.

No need for a long drawn out set of rules. We have kept it simple. Go fish, catch a big steelie within the boundaries and enjoy the day. Remember 100% payback and the only way we can pay for the fire hall and refreshments is through our 50/50 splits and prize raffles. If this is your first one, guaranteed a great time! We have doing this extremely successfully for many many years. Make sure you and your party signs the applications!

2005 Winter Steelhead Contest Winners

NIAGARA RIVER ANGLERS/ROGER TOBY MEMORIAL STEELHEAD CONTEST WINNERS ANNOUNCED HERE.
Rich Fortier/Larry Williams Co-Chairmen
Here's the winners for the 2005 Contest
held on Saturday, February 19th.:

First place honors went to D.J. LaVoy of East Amherst. LaVoy entered a 13# 12 Steelie.

Second place went to Chris Cinelli of Grand Island. Cinelli entered a whopping 13# steelhead to take those honors.

A 12# 4oz. Fish was entered by Dan Colville of Orchard Park.

Out of 134 entries in the Tournament, there were 25 fish weighed in.

Up until contest time, there were only 50 entries received before the 19th. There were 84 others that signed up at the launch ramp that morning for a total of 134 fishermen! That created a burden for the day but hopefully that will be ironed out for next years Tournament.

Overall, the day was a huge success despite 12 degrees temperature at sunup.

2003 WINTER STEELHEAD CONTEST WINNERS!!! ~
Posted February 19th 2003

Dr. Mike Pell's 17-pound fish won the Roger Tobey Memorial Steelhead Contest last Saturday sponsored by the Niagara River Anglers Association, a minor miracle considering the minus-20 degree wind chill.  He was fishing trout skein under a float along the Stella Drift in the lower river.  Second place came off the Queenston Back Drift when Joe Augustyniak reeled in a 13 pound, 13-ounce steelie on brown trout eggs.  Dave Horvath was third place with a 13 pound, 5 ounce trout he took on a small pink yarn ball while drifting Devil's Hole.  Fish over 19 pounds were also recorded the same day, but by non-tournament anglers.
